Scotland’s railways are getting a full upgrade this Christmas thanks to a new £16 million investment.
The work will be carried out by Network Rail who will be upgrading lines across Scotland during Christmas and the New Year.
Tracks as well as junctions will be upgraded and renovated with Glasgow, Stirling, Edinburgh, Inverness and Perth set to see large upgrades.
As part of the investment, Glasgow Queen Street High Level Station will face a period of disruption from Christmas Day into the New Year as rails get replaced with up to half a mile of track being laid down.
In Stirlingshire, engineers will also get to work on new tracks and upgrade local signalling to improve punctuality and reliability of the lines.
